For Lucinda Urrusti, portrait artist, the most important things in life are her family, art and Mexico, the country that welcomed her as a child refugee.
This is a portrait of painter Lucinda Urrusti who was born in Melilla, Spanish Morocco, 1926. She arrived in Mexico in 1939, with her parents and brother, as refugees from the Spanish Civill War. The film is constructed from articulated fragments of interviews made to her from 2012 through 2017. These interviews are intertwined with a critical text of her art by writer Jaime Moreno-Villarreal, and is complemented by art researcher Eduardo Espinosa-Campos’ and artist Manuel Felguérez’ participation. The film was produced and directed by Juan Francisco Urrusti, the artist’ s nephew.
