Wales International Film Festival 2022

We are little miracles. Tiny ones, even, who never stop shedding our skins, over and over. The world settles in our sweat. Alone, though, with no memory of what drove us into this life that jealous people claim is ours. Forgotten, skins fall one after another, like caresses that—much moreso than our cells, in truth—create them, these skins, which are neither ours nor those of others, regardless of the energy that we spend, at night, exchanging them.

A musical and movie score...

Fadi Awad - To Glory Land

The cycle of plague, isolation, despair, and return is nothing new to human history. In this short music film, a small US/Canadian ensemble performs six intimate English songs from a time when the flight from extravagant court to melancholy solitude came to define the most poetic of sensibilities.

O Sweet Woods

‘oneminuteglitches’ is a collection of one-minute video-poems navigating anxiety, vulnerability, and a loss of control.

Each poem is made to feel like a diary entry, designed to exist within the constraints of an Instagram video post – i.e. they are one minute long, have a 1:1 aspect ratio, and contain abstract animation and a glitchy musical aesthetic which is just as expressive under file compression.

The claustrophobic nature of these constraints is used to create tension between the speaker’s need for self-expression, and the limitations imposed by digital communication technology.

The film was produced between February and April 2020 using free software and free online file editors.

‘Shots of Light' is an animated music video by Christian Scharfenberg based on the song 'Shots of Light', by Morgan Finlay. The film follows 'Shemp' as they walk through the city, observing the world around them and taking hope from the shots of light that appear through the cracks.
